“The Sing-Song of Old Man Kangaroo” is one of Rudyard Kipling’s Just So stories.
It was first told by the author to his daughter Josephine and first published in Ladies’ Home Journal in June 1900.
Unlike the other Just So Stories it is in rhyme, though like them it ends with a poem as coda. It tends elicit strong feelings either disliked or alternatively a favourite. Which is it for you?
Part of this story is read aloud in the movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
