Two books about rabbits, seemed enough, Potter did not look forward to another. Yet children enjoyed her rabbit stories and the pictures, and they were among her most popular creations. So she returned to the characters The Tale of Peter Rabbit (1902) and The Tale of Benjamin Bunny (1904) for the characters and setting of The Flopsy Bunnies. A garden at her uncle’s home in Wales provided further inspiration for the pictures.
Benjamin Bunny and his cousin Flopsy now have six young rabbits known collectively as The Flopsy Bunnies. When the young rabbits invade a rubbish heap and fall asleep, Mr. McGregor catches them and puts them all in a sack. Thomasina Tittlemouse, frees them, so when Mr. McGregor displays the sack to his wife, he is surprised and scolded.
