The Tale of Mr. Tod (1912)

tod2The Tale of Mr Tod published by Frederick Warne & Co. in 1912. It and the next book, Pigling Bland were issued in a new format, it did not prove a popular move and Mr Tod was reissued in the classic format.

Mr. Tod, is a fox (and therefore a villain) . His rival Tommy Brock (a badger) kidnaps Flopsy and Benjamin Bunny’s children.  He hides them in the oven in Mr. Tod’s unsalubrious home .

Benjamin and his cousin Peter Rabbit follow Tommy Brock and try to rescue the babies. Meanwhile Mr. Tod finds Tommy fast asleep in his bed. Because of Tod’s tricks he and Tommy Brock fight, allowing the rabbits rescue the babies.
